ERWAT is proud to have been part of the #BackToSchool campaign led by the City of Ekurhuleni, reinforcing a shared commitment to improving learning environments and restoring dignity in local schools.
Working alongside the MMC for Water and Sanitation, Cllr Thembi Msane, and the HOD: Water and Sanitation – City of Ekurhuleni, Mr Thokozani Maseko, ERWAT supported an oversight visit to Tamaho Primary School in Katlehong. The visit focused on identifying and addressing critical water and sanitation challenges impacting the school community.
As part of the intervention, ERWAT supported the following actions:
- Repairing water leaks, broken toilets, and taps
- Donating sanitary towels to support learner dignity
- Providing a voucher sponsored by ERWAT to assist the school in purchasing much-needed classroom chairs
These interventions demonstrate the power of collaboration in responding swiftly to challenges and supporting learner wellbeing. By addressing essential infrastructure and dignity-related needs, ERWAT continues to play an active role in strengthening safe and supportive learning environments.
ERWAT commends the City of Ekurhuleni for its leadership and hands-on approach and remains committed to working together with partners to build a solid foundation for the future of our children.
